About 12 months ago we finally decided to get real and make an effort to invest in property. After some research I met a few companies but was still unsure until finding the ‘Armchair Guide to Property’ book and Podcast. This started us on the journey we have taken which has been a great learning experience and ultimately led to us owning our first investment property.

Like everyone we are busy and so found it easy to always ‘do that next year’ or find other excuses. That all changed when we met Andrew Trigg at Empower Wealth. I can’t understate how important that first meeting was, I met a few companies all offering similar services but Andrew was by far the most professional, knowledgeable person we met and also had no undercurrent of pushing us toward any commitment. If that call hadn’t gone so well, we would have looked elsewhere. Those qualities I am glad to say we have found across everyone we’ve met so far at Empower Wealth. We worked with Andrew for some months on getting our plan finalised, this was a great learning process and also quite confronting for us to give away so much private information!

Next up was moving to the Finance team led by Melissa Long, the transition process was seamless and we never once had to re-play information already given – this for me was a huge thing as it removed a common frustration. Melissa and her team took us through the complex world of mortgages, leverage, LVR’s etc with a professional and knowledgeable attitude however with no undercurrent of pushing us to any particular destination. This is where I really started to understand how it was actually possible to do this without killing our cashflow, it was very enlightening. The team managed the entire process of setting up multiple loan facilities, paperwork etc and really held our hands to completion.

Next we moved onto speaking with Christa Batt who is clearly a force of nature in the Melbourne property market 🙂 We spoke daily for many weeks, we laughed and also frowned as we missed out on a property by a whisker at auction but ended up purchasing a great ‘investor grade’ property at a fantastic price. Christa helped out with all the agents, surveys etc right up to completion. She also helped us out on the final stage of getting a managing agent.

Right through the process I really want to call out the professionalism of all involved, no silly question (from me) went unanswered, we had a team in our corner every step of the way and always felt like I was the client whom you were trying to get the best possible outcome for. The other point was transitioning between the teams was fantastic and really showed behind the scenes you guys all worked together really well, I congratulate you for that as I know it doesn’t happen by itself.

So our plan is up and running but not finished, we will be discussing property number two with you shortly and I will certainly be recommending Empower Wealth to anyone seeking my opinion.
