You Motivate You – But We Can Help

A few months back I attended a professional development day, which is part of holding my qualifications as a licensed finance broker. These types of events can be a bit hit and miss, but I always take the view that you can never stop learning and improving, so even at some of the dud events I usually still get one or two key points or ideas to take away that help me improve myself and/or our business services to our clients.

On this occasion they had a guest speaker – Craig Harper. Craig’s a Melbourne based Educator, Peak Performance Coach, Personal Trainer and successful Gym Owner, turned Motivational Speaker (Hmmmm……yes the title of motivational speaker doesn’t usually resonate with me either, often it’s a fancy title for a hype merchant who’s all about hyping up the audience with little content or real substance).

In listening to Craig talk for the first time, his approach was very direct and matter of fact, no hype merchant here, more someone keen to give his audience a reality check and great insight into the human mind. Throughout Craig’s presentation his direct approach was all about trying to hit a chord with each audience member that might spark a thought process that shifts one’s mindset – A connection that would see that person strive to achieve more, become happier, improve relationships etc, etc.

I related immediately to his attempts to make a connection with each audience member, because it’s exactly what I hope to achieve each month with my monthly commentary within this newsletter, instead I’m asking you the questions like:

  • Is not having enough money a barrier to what you want to do or achieve?
  • What amount of money do you need to fulfil your desires, dreams, aspirations, goals?

It is the same as when you have an appointment with me or one of the Empower Wealth team, we are all about finding out what the money will do, because as you have heard me say before, creating and having wealth or money for the sake of wealth or money is not going to offer you a meaningful life. It’s the experiences, the memories, the opportunities to experience new things, the ability to provide the best care and future opportunities for your family etc, etc that will give you a meaningful and enjoyable life. That’s why a conversation with Empower Wealth starts with questions like:

  • Why do you want to build wealth?
  • How good a money manager are you?
  • What are the things most important to you?
  • How much money are you going to need to retire and have the life that your desire?

My take out from hearing Craig speak for the first time, was that he was passionate about what he did, he really enjoyed the fact that he was, in his own way trying to change the lives of those he spoke with. Yet even though we have never met I bet his experience is similar to mine in the fact that not everyone will respond straight away, not everyone will believe it’s possible for them to be better and have more, to choose a better road to improving their lives. Some people will never respond, but I can tell you from my experience in helping hundreds of people on their road to their personal financial goals, it’s so worth it, when you are seeing the difference you make in each of their lives – that’s what motivates me and my professional team, because we know we can and we are making a difference to others’ lives.

As I’ve said before and I will keep saying into the future – You’re going to be the person who reflects on your own life and looks back in 5, 10, 15 or 20 years and say one of two things – I’m glad I did ………………….or I wish I had……………

More importantly right now I hope you can say I’m glad I am doing more to improve mine and my families circumstances, because there is no doubt everyone of us has desires, dreams, goals and ‘guess what’ when it comes to finance and wealth building, desire is one thing, ability is another. But the beautiful part about ability is you don’t have to have all the ability yourself, you can get help. We can help you. All you need to do is give us the opportunity to show you how we can help improve your financial wellbeing for your own piece of mind and a better future. Our initial assessment consultation is completely free of charge – Click here to learn more if you’re not already a client of ours.

When it comes to working out your own personal motivations for a better life you could certainly do a lot worse than listening to Craig Harper talk and better yet you could buy and read his latest book, which I recently did on a little short holiday to Fiji last month. Now I said he doesn’t sugar coat his approach and it’s evident in the name of his book – Stop F#@king Around – 30 Principles for a Better Life. This book has some real gold in it and it’s short and to the point.
