Friendly Reminders – Property Management

SMOKE DETECTORS:

With the summer behind us comes the end of another daylight savings period.  And the end of daylights savings also means a reminder about smoke alarms.

The legal obligation in Victoria is that smoke alarms are currently the responsibility of tenants to maintain, but this is not the case in all states, where the upkeep is the role of the owner of the property (Check with your property manager re: regulation if you own an investment property in another state)

There are two very important reasons for this, firstly, their safety and secondly to provide an early warming assistance  about a potential fire, which helps protect your asset.

GUTTERS:

As our irregular weather patterns continue and as we move into Autumn the number one cause of water  penetration into a property is by gutters overflowing.  So it goes without saying that you need to ensure your gutters remain as clear as possible at all times, because you never know when the next storm will hit.
