Brad & Prue’s Journey

Brad and Prue* were based out of Western Australia and already owned an investment property in Queensland. Weekly listeners of “The Property Couch”, they were unsure how much they should spend on the next investment property. So they first came to Empower Wealth via our Property Planning Team which developed a tailored property portfolio plan based on their current situation and future objectives. It was then clear from Brad and Prue’s future ambition for passive income, that a high growth property of investment grade was required.

Although based in Western Australia, they were comfortable with the concept of borderless investing and liked the idea of buying in Melbourne as they were made aware by our buyer’s agent, Christa Batt of what they could achieve with their budget while keeping to the strategy in the property portfolio plan. The final listed property was a family home on a land size in excess of 500m2 with four bedrooms, substantial and newly renovated kitchen and large bathroom for under one million. It was located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, walking distance to the park and 5 minutes away from the train station and all other amenities.

Purchased at auction with five other bidders, the property was secured close to the reserve price. Christa negotiated for a four-month settlement to capitalise on the rising market and tenants moved in within a week of settlement.

Brad and Prue* are now on the way to a very healthy looking property portfolio and with an added surprise, a healthy looking family with twins on the way.
