William Shillito

Born in Melbourne, but having lived most of his life in Christchurch, New Zealand, William is a Mortgage Lending Advisor at Empower Wealth. He holds both a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management and a Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking Management.

William has always been passionate about travelling and property. In 2017, he decided to combine both interests and move to London in pursuit of a job in property. This landed him a job as an Operations Manager for a home rentals agency where he dealt with customer issues while they were staying at the properties he looked after. Naturally, this also included liaising with contractors, drafting contracts as well as other property maintenance tasks. After 2 years in London, he decided to move to Melbourne to be closer to family and that’s when an opportunity popped up at Empower Wealth.

Initially, what attracted William to Empower Wealth is the company’s promise to prioritise customers first which is also very much aligned with William’s previous role in London. After joining Empower Wealth, he realised that there are a lot more to the company and he has developed a strong interest around wealth creation and cash flow management after being able to witness the impact this has had in helping clients prepare for their financial future. His interest is further piqued after learning about the Money SMARTS system and how it can help a household manage their money better. Using this system, he hoped to one day buy his own home and build up his own portfolio.

Ever since he can remember, William has always been active in sports and was awarded a sports scholarship throughout his time at University. These days, when he’s not working, he’ll most likely be seen exploring around Melbourne and going to cricket games at the MCG. He’s also a massive soccer fan, having used to play for many years in Christchurch as well as a Tottenham Hotspur supporter.

Dean Wills and William Shillito from Empower wealth team were outstanding in terms of understanding our needs and finances.
