Sam Boer

Sam Boer is Empower Wealth’s Business Development Director, responsible identifying opportunities for our mortgage broking business and will be proactively scanning the mortgage broking landscape to find acquisition targets that will accelerate our growth trajectory.

Sam is an accomplished banking and finance executive with more than 35 years’ experience and has worked in a range of senior industry roles. Most recently he has been Senior Practice Leader at Internal Consulting Group’s Financial Services practice. Prior to that, he worked with REA Group as CEO Smartline Personal Mortgage Advisers and then as General Manager for Product and Productivity. Many in the broker industry know Sam when we worked at CBA when he started out as the Vic /Tas State Manager for Third Party Banking, then moved his family to NSW to lead the NSW/ACT state team. His final role at CBA he was General Manager for Third Party Banking responsible leading CBA’s Retail Mortgage Broking portfolio.

Sam has a passion for helping small business become big businesses, leading from the front, and working with people who share in his enthusiasm for what might be.

Sam has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Tasmania and an Executive MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. He is married with three children, is owned by a labradoodle named Louie and lives on the Mornington Peninsula for good reason – surf, golf and fishing (and wineries).
