Principal Financial Planner
SMSF Specialist

Michael is a Partner and Principal Financial Planner of Empower Wealth. He has more than 25 years of experience in the financial planning and banking industry.

Michael holds a suite of qualifications within the industry; a Bachelor of Commerce (Corporate Finance), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and he is an SMSF Specialist. Michael is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Acknowledging a keen interest in economics and business, Michael’s passion is to drill into the ‘real’ numbers that tell the trust about performance and future potential. He much preferred the holistic and personalised nature of financial planning and this insight led him to further his studies in this industry.

In 2001, Michael started as a Strategic Planner in a large boutique firm in South Australia before moving to Melbourne in 2004 to join one of the largest banking firms, ANZs as a paraplanner.

In 2006, Michael moved on to join Meritum Financial Group to continue his paraplanning career. While in Meritum, he also took up the role to provide Technical and Compliance advice to other financial planners within the group ensuring a consistent and high quality process that met the standards set by professional industry bodies such as FAAA and CISI. On top of that, he was also providing Finance Planning advice to help clients build up their personal wealth base.

Michael joined Empower Wealth in 2010 as its first principal Financial Planner and in the following 16 years, has worked his way into a partner position in recognition of his relentless efforts to drive value and returns for his clients. He provides advice in a number of areas including financial assets such as shares and managed investments, superannuation and personal insurances. Using his skills to provide guidance to his clients, Michael finds it extremely rewarding to witness their wealth creation strategies come to fruition in later years.

We really appreciate how Empower Wealth looks after us, from the great Advisors to the Moor Portal and also communication between each other and with us. All the advisors we have worked with, Joel, Dean, Michael, Danish and Matt have all been very professional, helpful and just great to work with. They all are always happy to answer any questions we have and to share their knowledge, to enable us to better understand how to make our money work better/harder for us. We were lost in regard to our finances, when we started with Empower Wealth, since then the Mortgage Broking, Financial Planning, Buyers Assistance, Superannuation and Tax Advisors/teams have all assisted us and we now have direction and the tools/knowledge to meet our goals.

I wasn’t sure if I was in a position to retire but when you guys crunched the numbers and explained a plan we could follow it is happy days so far

Thanks very much for all your help in being able to sort out my insurances. I know there were a couple of hiccups here and there regarding some historic injuries. It’s good to know that it’s all sorted and I’m paying much lower rate compared to what I could find for myself.

Every single person we interacted with at Empower Wealth knew us by name, understood exactly what we wanted, understood our needs, and our unique financial situation. We were prompted to ask any and all questions and always received a fast and thoughtful reply. Our meetings always felt detailed, and we were never rushed through any of the processes. I cannot recommend Empower Wealth enough.
